Work Location:  Fort Irwin, CA

Roles & Responsibilities:  
Diagnoses, repairs and maintains ground support equipment (GSE). Advises and trains lower grade workers on diagnosis and repairs of less complex repair/maintenance problems.
Diagnoses all system components including electrical, electronics, and emissions related fault codes etc., in order to repair or replace faulty parts, as indicated by required testing or visual observations.
Uses automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions.

Other Duties include:

  • Maintain external fuel and grounding systems
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications
  • Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment.
  • Operates, cleans, inspects and services GSE towing vehicles.
  • Work includes cross-utilization into other positions that fall within their scope of work
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Conditions:
Conditions will vary.
Most work accomplished outdoors. 
There will be work on the range throughout the year so temperatures will vary. 
They will include 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting. 
Must be capable of lifting 50-100 pounds assisted by other employees.
Must be able to deploy both CONUS and OCONUS Shift hours will vary by mission requirements.
Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed, sometimes on short notice, to support test missions.
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:
High School diploma or equivalent.
3 years’ experience repairing and maintaining one or a combination of the following:

  • Ground Vehicles (track or wheeled)
  • Power generation equipment
  • Rotary or fixed wing aircraft
  • Industrial mechanical equipment (pumps, conveyors, lifts, etc.)

Military experience with Maintenance and Mechanical background (91, 88, 3521 or other Mechanical MOS would be best). Working knowledge of Computer systems and software.

Experience working at a government facility helpful, but not required Current Driver’s License required.

Forklift Operator license required Class A license preferred.

U.S.  Citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to hire date and maintain clearance throughout employment.
