Work Location:   Naval Station Norfolk, VA

Roles & Responsibilities:

Supports a dynamic US Navy Facility that specializes in operation, maintenance, and readiness of experimental US Navy watercraft by performing the following duties:

Assists in the installation, service, repair, and testing of marine inboard and outboard engines. All work will be performed safely in accordance with industry standards and best practices. The technician will troubleshoot equipment onboard naval small boats and test craft, check functionality of newly installed equipment, and evaluate systems’ performance under actual operating conditions.

Work performed in Industrial facilities, outside conditions,

Marine environment.

They will include 70% standing, 5% walking, 15% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles
  • Prior experience with gas or diesel engines
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct military or maritime industrial mechanical experience
  • Must be organized and be able to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required
  • Working in a team environment
  • May work outside normal hours of operations as mission/fleet support requirements dictate.
  • Clean driving record
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write and follow technical directives correctly
  • All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation
  • OEM Certifications a plus
