Work Location: NAWCWD China Lake, CA

Roles & Responsibilities: Full Time position.

Works on various types of electronic equipment and related devices by performing one or a combination of the following: installing, maintaining, repairing, overhauling, troubleshooting, modifying, constructing, and testing. Work requires practical application of technical knowledge of electronics, ability to determine malfunctions, and skill to put equipment in required operating condition. The equipment consists of many different kinds of circuits or multiple repetition of the same kind of circuit. Applies working technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks on electronic equipment, following detailed instructions that cover virtually all procedures. Work typically involves such tasks as: assisting higher-level technicians by performing such activities as soldering, replacing components, wiring circuits, taking test readings, repairing simple electronic equipment. May use various electrical/electronic tools in testing and troubleshooting including power supplies, function generators, volt meters, and oscilloscopes. Receives technical guidance, as required from supervisor or high level-technician. Work is typically spot-checked, but is given detailed review when new or advanced assignments are involved.

Specific Tasking:

Applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, performs such tasks as replacing components, wiring circuits, repairing simple electronic equipment; and taking test readings using common test instruments. Applies learned technical knowledge to perform fabrication, assembly, soldering, repair, modification and installation of electrical components, PCBs, wiring harnesses, cables, wires, wiring assemblies and associated parts. The Technician must have the technical knowledge to demonstrate a practical application of tools and techniques to assigned duties. Work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices in accordance with AISD QA and CM policies and procedures. Position will be exposed to SECRET level COMSEC to support primary functions during first week.

Work Conditions:

Conditions will vary. Most work performed in enclosed buildings. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs, 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees.

Education/Experience/Skills:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must obtain (and subsequently maintain) IPC/EIA- J-STD 001ES and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification within 60 days.

Knowledge of tools and equipment to perform required functions.

Ability to use common test instruments such as digital multi-meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes

Soldering (IPC-J-STD-001ES) certified within 60 days of employment.

Wire harness assembly (IPC-WHMA-A-620) certified within 60 days of employment.

Conscientious while working on aircraft and hanger with regard to safety, FOD, tool control, etc.

Understand the dangers of hazardous chemicals and knows how to use PPE for protection.

Possess a valid driver’s license.

U.S. Citizenship and must obtain a U.S. DoD Security Interim Clearance prior to hire date, final clearance must be granted and clearance must be maintained throughout employment.
